A condemned warrior, relentless monsters, a no-quarter fight, and all the blood you can imagine. DOOM marked a before and after among FPS games. Its fans turned it into a kind of 'Hello World' for dozens of platforms, and its new versions left us speechless. What's next on the list? Its name is 2DOOM, a hybrid between demake and prototype, its graphics and sound are a marvel, and if Bethesda doesn't fund its development, we're going to break everything.
Ready for DOOM: Eternal? I admit I'm already making the necessary hardware adjustments, but something tells me there won't be optimization problems. The game still has no release date, and the wait becomes too long. What can we do in the meantime? Play DOOM in the world of Super Mario, download a copy of Brutal Doom (or its variant Brutal Doom 64), get a wide number of mods… or visit the 2DOOM page.
2DOOM: A Tribute That's More Than Addictive
Direct action, without too many explanations. You're just another lost marine in the middle of a demonic invasion of Mars. Arrow keys to move, Z/X/W/Ctrl to fire, C/E/Shift throw grenades, jump with the spacebar, and switch weapons with the numbers. The chainsaw, the shotgun, the machine gun, the missile launcher, almost all of DOOM's iconic weapons are present in 2DOOM, with devastating effectiveness.
https://old.neoteo.com/it-runs-doom-los-10-aparatos-mas-extranos-que-corren-doom/What do we know about its creators? 2DOOM is the result of a team of five members: Damien Mayance, Simon Coroller, Quentin Gendre (sound and music), Hugo Houriez (2D artist, development) and Benjamin Magnan (2D artist, level design). It all started when evaluating the resources of GameMaker Studio 2, and although there are some details (collisions, empty levels), the balance is very, very positive.
The only problem is that 2DOOM was never meant to be a complete game. You can finish it in ten minutes, and the ending will have you cursing at the screen in six different languages. Well... I refuse. With those graphics, that sound, and that dynamic, 2DOOM deserves a more official profile. Let the parents at Bethesda talk to the parents of the developers, agree on a date, and set a release date.
