According to official League of Legends statistics, Italian player Massimiliano Sechi holds Diamond status, a rank shared by only 250,000 players out of 67 million. But there's an extra detail: Sechi doesn't have hands. The folks at Razer published their documentary Character Select on YouTube, exploring Sechi's life inside and outside of LoL.
The Player Without Hands
There are two aspects of League of Legends frequently found on the Web: its importance as an e-sport has grown exponentially, and the behavior of a good part of its community is more toxic than Chernobyl. Fortunately, there are some exceptions to the rule, and one of them is Massimiliano Sechi, a Diamond-rank player based in Sassari, a province on the island of Sardinia, west of Italy. Sechi, better known in-game as MacsHG, not only managed to stay out of trouble (something his brother cannot say due to his preference for cheating in LoL), but achieved that level without having hands. Sechi was born with developmental issues in his arms and one less leg, but that doesn't stop him from going to the gym, swimming, and of course, kicking ass in LoL.
Razer's Documentary: Character Select
In addition to being very active on social media, YouTube and Twitch, Sechi was the main protagonist in a documentary developed by Razer, called Character Select (it has Spanish subtitles, don't forget to enable them). Sechi works for a company dedicated to selling cars, keeps his body in the best possible way, drives better than many people with arms and hands, and through sheer willpower has become a spokesperson for others suffering similar motor limitations, proving day after day that even complex tasks like a video game demanding high levels of coordination can be conquered. In case there's any doubt... Sechi became Diamond playing with his foot.
It's also good to see that Razer, beyond its logo and mentions of the Orbweaver and Nostromo, managed to focus successfully on Sechi's life, especially on his relationship with his brother Simon. At the end of the video, Simon shares a powerful phrase: "He is my brain, I am his hands." Both form a fantastic team, though the classic quarrels that two brothers have when they see each other every day are never lacking. Have doubts about something? Think you can't do it?
