How exactly does it work? The project's developers trained generative adversarial networks with different styles and levels of abstraction. The "training package", if you will, uses a total of 45,000 portraits, but it doesn't rely on classic style transfer; instead, it redesigns all facial lines and the color palette during generation.
AI Portraits can present its works almost in real time, with a maximum resolution of 4K. Now, what about privacy? The AI Portraits website states that the original images are sent to their servers, but they are deleted once processing is complete.
AI Portraits has a single goal, and it does it quite well. Images of people with glasses are the ones that give the algorithm the most trouble, and we can almost always find some lines from the frames in the generated portrait.
