At the Invest in Germany Summit in Berlin on October 20, 2026, Amazon announced plans to invest more than €16 billion in Germany in 2027. The company assigned €4.8 billion to expanding the AWS Europe (Frankfurt) Region.

What the plan covers

Amazon also named data centers and AI infrastructure, logistics, its Amazon Leo satellite network, and Prime Video productions as areas of investment. The company plans a second robotics and AI research lab in Berlin. Prime Video has more than 15 German productions planned through the end of 2027.

The AWS allocation has two different time descriptions: the announcement referred to spending “in 2027,” while AWS executive Stefan Höchbauer described the expansion as continuing “through 2027.”

The logistics jobs refer to earlier projects

More than 3,000 logistics jobs are associated with projects Amazon had already announced. That figure is not a jobs total for the 2027 investment plan.
