Anthropic announced on October 7, 2026, recurring Claude Platform API credits for eligible Claude Max and Claude Team subscribers. Claude Max 5x receives $100 per billing cycle, while Max 20x receives $200; Team pools credits from eligible seats up to $500 per organization each month. The balance pays for specified API and agent services, not interactive Claude Code sessions or extra usage in Claude apps.
Claude Max and Team credit amounts
The Max amounts apply per billing cycle. Claude Team instead builds a shared monthly balance from its Standard and Premium seats:
| Eligible plan or seat | Credit amount | Period and pooling condition |
| Claude Max 5x | $100 | Per billing cycle |
| Claude Max 20x | $200 | Per billing cycle |
| Claude Team Standard seat | $20 per seat | Per credit month; pooled with other eligible seats, up to $500 per organization per month |
| Claude Team Premium seat | $100 per seat | Per credit month; pooled with other eligible seats, up to $500 per organization per month |
For example, three Standard seats and two Premium seats contribute $260 in a credit month: (3 × $20) + (2 × $100). Adding another Premium seat brings the next month’s allocation to $360, subject to the $500 organizational cap. The calculation uses the seats in place at the start of the credit month.
These are dollar balances, not fixed token allowances. How much API work a balance funds depends on the services and usage charged against it.
Which Claude services the credits cover
The balance applies to specified services on Claude Platform. Claude Agent SDK is eligible; interactive Claude Code is not. They are separate products, so a Claude subscription’s usage limits and the API credit balance remain distinct.
| Claude service or use | Credit treatment |
| Claude API | Covered |
| Claude Managed Agents | Covered |
| Claude Agent SDK | Covered |
| Claude Platform Playground | Covered |
| Interactive Claude Code sessions | Not covered |
| Extra usage in Claude apps | Not covered |
| Claude Platform on AWS, Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Foundry | Not covered |
The credits also do not increase Claude or Claude Code usage limits. API spend and rate limits continue to apply. If you want to use the balance for development work, the relevant route is an eligible API or agent service, rather than an interactive Claude Code session.
Who can claim and how
Eligible plans are Claude Max 5x, Claude Max 20x, and Claude Team, including discounted Team plans for Nonprofit and Scientists. Free, Pro, and Enterprise plans are not eligible. A new subscriber can claim after seven days on an eligible plan, which must be active and in good standing.
On Claude.ai, a Max subscriber opens Settings > Billing; a Team owner uses Organization settings > Billing. The plan holder links a Claude Console organization and accepts the program terms. For Team, the person claiming must be a Primary Owner or Owner. Their Claude Console role must be Owner, Admin, or Billing.
Each eligible plan can link to one organization, and an organization can receive credits from one plan. The balance appears in Claude Console under Settings > Billing > Promotional credits. A payment method is not required to claim the included credits. They arrive shortly after the plan payment is processed; subscribers on annual plans receive credits monthly.
When credits refresh or run out
Credits refresh each billing cycle, or monthly for annual plans. Unused credits expire at the end of the applicable cycle and do not roll over. The included balance is spent before purchased credits, and all API keys and workspaces in the linked organization draw from the same pool.
Auto-reload is based on the purchased balance, so it can trigger at its threshold even when included credits remain. If the organization has no credits available, API requests stop until the next allocation unless purchased credits or auto-reload are available. Usage does not transfer to the Claude subscription; organizations invoiced through Anthropic sales continue to be billed as usual for usage beyond the included credits.
