On September 16, 2026, Anthropic announced Claude Docs and Claude Slides as beta features on paid Claude plans, bringing document and presentation creation into Claude conversations. Anthropic also announced a staged plan to bring Cowork and ordinary Claude chat into one Claude experience.
What Claude Docs and Claude Slides do
Claude Docs creates rich-text documents that users can edit and share. Claude Slides creates presentations that users can edit, present in Claude and download as PowerPoint or PDF. The two tools serve different jobs, with separate output options:

To start a Doc, you can ask in a conversation or choose a template from the Artifacts tab. Claude asks clarifying questions before drafting. You can edit the document yourself, ask Claude to revise it, or use comments and mention @Claude to request changes.
Docs also supports simultaneous editing: people with edit access can work in the same document, with changes appearing in real time. Viewers can read; editors can read, edit, comment and export. A shared document requires a Claude account to open.
For Google’s document tools, Claude Docs lists Google Docs as an export destination. Claude Slides’ listed outputs are PowerPoint and PDF.
How Docs, Slides and Design fit into Claude conversations
Anthropic’s announcement also described Claude Design as available from conversations, while standalone use continues. The company’s plan for the unified Claude experience was to make Cowork capabilities available alongside ordinary chat, rather than requiring users to choose a separate mode before starting a task.
Anthropic said the combined experience would begin rolling out to Pro and Max over the weeks following its September 16 announcement, with Team and Free to follow.
Claude Docs access, sharing and limits
Anthropic’s Docs Help Center lists Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise as eligible for the beta. On Enterprise, Docs is off by default until an organization owner enables it.
Sharing depends on the plan. Pro and Max users can share with anyone who has the link. Team and Enterprise users can share with invited people or groups, or across their organization; external sharing is not available on those plans.
Docs has no version history or comment-only access. Charts and diagrams made with connected-app data do not refresh automatically. On iOS and Android, users can request and view Docs, but cannot start from a template, edit a Doc or change its sharing settings.
Docs usage counts toward Claude plan limits, and larger requests use more of those limits. Organizations using customer-managed encryption keys (CMEK), zero data retention (ZDR) or a HIPAA-ready configuration cannot use Docs. Anthropic says document-level events appear in the Compliance API activity feed, while edits and comments inside Docs are not recorded there.
