Some users keep few documents on their computers... but others keep thousands. Finding an exact piece of text becomes almost impossible with so much material, and if we add the limitations of Windows' built-in search, the only option is to install an additional tool. That tool is Anytxt Searcher, a kind of 'local Google' on your computer. In addition to serving as a text search engine for files, it also has basic management tools to copy and delete everything you need.

If searching for text among thousands of emails is complicated, imagine doing the same through thousands of documents in different formats. Regardless of our organizational skills, we will always forget the name and location of some file... but if we remember even a part of its content, the free tool Anytxt Searcher can rescue us.

Search Any Text Within Your Documents with Anytxt Searcher

Anytxt Searcher is available in two versions: a standard one, and another with OCR support to detect text in images or scanned PDF documents. The standard version can process from basic .txt files to e-book formats (epub, mobi, azw and more), through the Office ecosystem, and Microsoft Outlook .eml files. All you have to do to get started is enter the text in the search box, and click the Go button.

Anytxt Searcher has three search methods: Fuzzy, Whole and Advanced, but I've noticed that the Fuzzy mode selected by default works quite well. On the left of the interface appears a list of all files that contain the text (partially or completely), and on the right you can view the content of each one. At the same time, Anytxt Searcher presents functions to copy, move, delete, and most importantly, open the exact location on disk.

The Spanish translation is partial, and quite poor. I recommend using the program in English.

To finish, Anytxt Searcher offers an HTTP mode that enables text search with a browser, a dark theme for its interface, and a Spanish translation that unfortunately makes many mistakes. Anyway, that doesn't affect the main functionality of this program. Anytxt Searcher is very good at searching text, and if you have to navigate through thousands of files, it's not a bad idea to download a copy.
