The story of Arrival begins when several alien ships begin to arrive on Earth. The military high command hires an expert linguist, Louise Banks, and a mathematician, Ian Donnelly, who, under the command of Colonel Weber, must try to find out if the aliens come in peace or pose a threat. But humanity teeters on the brink of a world war as everyone rushes for answers. And to find those answers, Banks, Donnelly, and Weber will have a chance that could put their lives and, very possibly, the rest of humanity at risk.
Arrival is a science fiction film based on the short story "Story of Your Life" by writer Ted Chiang. Unlike other alien invasions where action isn't long in coming, like the recent Independence Day: Resurgence, in this trailer we can see how linguist Louise Banks learns to communicate with the aliens, experiencing extremely realistic flashbacks that will become the key to giving meaning to the true reason and great mystery of this alien visit.
