On October 26, 2026, SpaceNews reported that Astranis had announced an amendment to its SpaceX launch contract for a dedicated Falcon 9 mission planned for 2028. The flight is intended to carry all six satellites in Astranis’s Block 4 MicroGEO production run.
What the dedicated mission changes
The amendment assigns Astranis the Falcon 9 mission’s full payload capacity. SpaceNews reported that Astranis signed the original SpaceX launch contract in late 2024.
Six satellites are planned for direct insertion into GEO
The six Block 4 satellites are planned to reach geostationary orbit (GEO) through direct injection using an Impulse Helios upper stage, according to SpaceNews.
Astranis projects that the mission would bring its fleet to 16 satellites: 10 built across Blocks 1–3, plus the six planned Block 4 satellites.
