On September 30, 2026, AWS announced that Claude Opus 5, Claude Sonnet 5 and Claude Haiku 4.5 were available through Amazon Bedrock’s India geographic cross-Region inference profile. The announcement covers these models on Bedrock through that India profile.
How the India profile routes requests
The profile routes requests between two AWS Regions: Mumbai (ap-south-1) and Hyderabad (ap-south-2). Prompts and results may move between them, while the profile keeps inference within India. AWS says the cross-Region path uses its secure network and end-to-end encryption for data in transit.
How to access the models
AWS lists the Bedrock console and programmatic access through the Anthropic Messages API, Amazon Bedrock’s InvokeModel API and Converse API.
What AWS says about data handling
AWS describes Amazon Bedrock’s default as not storing model inputs or outputs. It also says certain content flagged by automated safety classifiers may require human review.
AWS’s geographic-inference guidance says prompts and results may move between Regions, and data retained for abuse detection may be stored in a destination Region.
