Azure Sphere's Approach

Its managing director, engineer Galen Hunt, explains it clearly: IoT is in a "science fair" stage, with several companies and divisions conducting at least one experiment, but the lack of security is what prevents them from scaling up. Azure Sphere seeks to attack this problem with three elements: a cloud service, a series of certified microcontrollers, the first being the MediaTek MT3620, and a Linux-based operating system, specifically designed for IoT.

Preview and General Availability

Microsoft representatives confirmed that several clients already used Azure Sphere during its preview phase to produce smart appliances, while also adopting MediaTek MT3620 modules as "guardians" to protect more sensitive equipment.
