On Oct. 19, 2026, BGR reported that some Fitbit Air update features were rolling out, but did not identify which features had reached Air users. Google had announced on Oct. 12 that Health Guardian blood-pressure and insulin-resistance trends, along with expanded automatic activity detection, were planned for later in October. (BGR; Google)

Google said both Fitbit Air trends require Google Health Premium. A monthly insulin-resistance report requires at least seven days of wear during that month; a blood-pressure report requires five consecutive days of wear in a week. (Google’s Health Guardian notice)

Google describes these as general-wellness trends, not diagnoses or real-time clinical readings. It says users should not rely on them to change medication or treatment, and specifically says not to use the insulin-resistance trend to adjust insulin levels. Google also says the blood-pressure trend should not be used by pregnant people.

Automatic activity detection has logging thresholds

BGR reports some Fitbit Air update features are rolling out

Google said Fitbit Air’s automatic activity detection would expand from 10 activities to more than 100, including strength training, swimming, racket sports and team sports. Its model can use workout routines, historical data and manual edits; it can also use location when the user grants permission. (Google’s October announcement)

A workout must meet the default 15-minute minimum and sustain an elevated heart rate to be logged automatically. Google says a summary typically reaches the phone app within 30 minutes. The company also reported nearly twice the accuracy and more than half as many missed workouts in an offline evaluation against its previous model.

Those performance figures come from Google’s offline comparison; they are not a promise of the same result for every wearer. The notification illustrates the activity-detection interface, while the duration and heart-rate requirements determine whether a session qualifies for automatic logging.

Google Health’s partner plans have separate timelines

Google said U.S. users would soon be able to connect Abbott Lingo, an over-the-counter continuous glucose monitor, to Google Health. It also planned to let U.S. users import Function Health lab results later in fall 2026. NeoTeo has also covered the separate Fitbit Edge announcement.

MyFitnessPal Premium users can share detailed, food-specific logs with Google Health; users without Premium can continue sharing daily meal logs. Google said Flo Health syncing was planned to begin in early 2027.
