Many users are interested in downloading files from the BitTorrent network but suffer restrictions from their local providers, whether with routers blocked to the core, constant throttling, or packet inspection. One way to escape all that is with dedicated services like Bitport, which just added support for Google Drive, so we can send any torrent directly to Mountain View's cloud.
Accessing the BitTorrent network is easy as long as the user is willing to jump over some technical barriers. The full process requires a good client (I recommend qBittorrent, lightweight and open source), an index that has what we're looking for (The Pirate Bay is first on the list, despite certain maneuvers), and other details that can help performance, such as a fixed IP address on the network card and an open port on the router. However, some providers actively interfere with BitTorrent downloads by blocking router configuration or applying throttling. The web is full of recommendations to evade these traps, but one of the most effective is to let a service take care of the dirty work.
That's when Bitport comes in. Technically it shares some characteristics with a seedbox, though it's actually an online BitTorrent downloader. Bitport offers a private and personal cloud with a certain amount of space where torrents are stored. From there we can get them as if they were a normal download (thus bypassing throttling), play them via streaming, or with the right plan, send them non-stop to our Google Drive account. I imagine Mountain View isn't too pleased with the idea, and that service doesn't provide much space, to say the least, but if the plan is to have the torrent available everywhere, the BitTorrent-Bitport-Google Drive route is very interesting.
Now... why "with the right plan"? To access Google Drive sync we need the standard plan, with 100 GB capacity, and it costs $10 per month. Personally, I think it's more efficient to pay for a VPN with that amount, but Bitport's potential is there, and it would be a mistake to deny it.
