The internet has a new obsession, and her name is Bowsette. This female version of Bowser (essentially Peach with horns, a tight black dress or swimsuit, and enormous breasts) has sparked a veritable hurricane of fan art and cosplay across Twitter, Tumblr, and other platforms, including some works that already obey Rule 34. What's next on the list? Bowsette 64, a mod for Super Mario 64 that replaces Mario with Bowsette, who can shout when she jumps and throw fireballs.
The Backstory
It all started with the latest Nintendo Direct on September 13. One of the things the Japanese giant presented there was the trailer for New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe for the Switch. The game includes new characters, among them Toadette, whom we already know from other games. However, there are also new special powers. Toadette's power is the Super Crown, and when she gets it, she transforms into Peachette, who looks extremely similar to Peach but wears clothing with Toadette's colors.
The legion of fans didn't let that detail slip, and the question was immediate: What would happen if the Super Crown worked on other characters? A couple of days later, Twitter user Haniwa published a small comic exploring that possibility. Bowser and Mario are rejected by Peach, and to get revenge on the princess, the villain transforms into Bowsette, hoping to cause an attack of jealousy. From there, all the floodgates broke.
Bowsette 64 Mod
The latest expression of this obsession called Bowsette comes through Kaze Emanuar, a YouTuber who specializes in extreme mods, crossovers, and other hacks. On occasion, Kaze accepts commissions, and someone decided to pay him to turn Bowsette into the main character of Super Mario 64. It's obvious that he based it on Peach's assets, but the differences are in plain sight... that is, a black bikini and gigantic breasts. For some strange reason, Bowsette stands as if she's about to duel with a gunfighter, but she can run and jump without problems. She also has a voice, and as an attack she throws fireballs with limited range.
Emanuar made it clear that he had no intention of making Bowsette 64, and that he only shared it because he was paid. In the video description there is a link to MEGA with the hacked ROM, so if you want to try it in your favorite emulator, nothing stops you (for now).
