Datacentre Magazine reported on Oct. 28, 2026, that a newly formed special-purpose vehicle (SPV) would use a reported $63 billion financing transaction to buy Broadcom XPU accelerators and networking equipment, then lease the equipment to Anthropic. Deliveries were expected to begin in calendar 2027. Yahoo Finance had reported on Oct. 26 that Bank of America, Blackstone, Citi and Morgan Stanley announced the transaction.
What the $63 billion financing would fund
An SPV is a separate legal entity created for a specific transaction. In this reported arrangement, it would own the Broadcom equipment and lease it to Anthropic for AI computing. The planned deliveries place the infrastructure buildout in the future; the reported schedule starts in calendar 2027.
How the financing roles are divided
Datacentre Magazine reported that Bank of America, Citi and Morgan Stanley jointly arranged the first-lien financing, while Blackstone was the sole provider of committed second-lien financing. A lien is a legal claim against collateral; first-lien claims have priority over second-lien claims.
Broadcom was also reported to provide residual-value support to the SPV equal to the first-lien amount. That places Broadcom in both the equipment-supplier role and a financing-support role in the reported structure.
How this differs from the earlier $42 billion arrangement
The $63 billion SPV is separate from an earlier arrangement involving up to $42 billion in convertible notes. CNBC reported that those notes were associated with infrastructure spending and a five-year commitment, valued at $125.2 billion, to lease Google TPU computing capacity. The new SPV instead concerns Broadcom XPU accelerators and networking equipment leased to Anthropic.
| Reported arrangement | Financing structure and amount | Equipment or computing capacity | Anthropic relationship and timing |
| Broadcom–Anthropic SPV | SPV transaction reported at $63 billion | Broadcom XPU accelerators and networking equipment | The SPV would lease the equipment to Anthropic; deliveries were expected to begin in calendar 2027. |
| Earlier Broadcom-linked arrangement | Convertible notes of up to $42 billion | Google TPU capacity under a five-year lease commitment reported at $125.2 billion | The notes were associated with Anthropic infrastructure spending. |

CNBC reported on Oct. 1, 2026, that Anthropic’s prospectus identified potential conflicts arising from Broadcom’s combined roles as hardware supplier and financing partner. The prospectus warned that Broadcom’s pricing and hardware decisions could affect Anthropic’s ability to secure enough computing capacity.
