Our great photography marathon continues, and after visiting the most popular entry-level models from Nikon, we must return to the fertile fields of Canon, where we find the highly respected Canon EOS 750D. Despite its almost three and a half years of age, users of this camera swear by its excellent price-performance ratio, and any factory limitation can be easily compensated by adding some accessories to your setup.
The Canon EOS 750D was marked by a relatively confusing announcement, as the Japanese giant decided that this DSLR would share its launch with the Canon EOS 760D, essentially its twin sister, with some improvements in LCD panel, autofocus, and controls. At the same time, it has three names: EOS 750D is its standard designation in Europe, but across the pond it is known as the Rebel T6i, and in Japan it is the Kiss X8i. However, at the end of the day it doesn't matter where you are, because the Canon EOS 750D is one of the most attractive options for those who want to start seeing the world with a DSLR in their hands.
Canon EOS 750D: Less than 600 Reasons to Get One
The current situation of the Canon EOS 750D shows that its price is around 560 euros, or 500 euros if the future owner prefers to do without the standard lens and buy only the body. These values are in line with its direct competition, but it never sacrifices major specifications. The user will receive a camera with a 24.2-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, or 6,000 by 4,000 pixels maximum resolution. Its ISO sensitivity ranges from 100 to 12,800, with a special H mode equivalent to ISO 25,600. The DIGIC 6 image processor does a solid job even in low light conditions, but most likely noise will visit us as soon as we cross the ISO 6,400 threshold.
The controls of the Canon EOS 750D are more complete compared to the previous model. Of course, the wheel and mode dial are still there, but the ISO button is now accompanied by an autofocus button, and another that turns the LCD screen on and off. Speaking of the screen, it is a 3-inch panel with just over a million pixels, capacitive touch support, and it is also tilting, so we can adjust its angle to the needs of the shot, or rotate it 180 degrees for self-portraits. The viewfinder is an eye-level pentamirror with approximately 95% coverage and 0.82x magnification, although this may change slightly depending on the format (for example, the manual reports 93% coverage in 16:9).
When it comes to shooting, we find a 19-point cross-type autofocus (which translates to greater precision and speed), and a shutter speed ranging from 1/4000 to 30 seconds. On the other hand, the continuous shooting speed is 5 FPS, with a burst limit of 940 in Fine quality JPEG, between 7 and 8 shots in RAW, and 6 shots for RAW+JPEG (values calculated with a compatible 8 GB memory card). Those interested in video will not necessarily be disappointed because the Canon EOS 750D supports up to 1080p, but at 30 FPS, when other similar models offer 1080p60. To finish this section, I would like to review the camera's compatibility with Wi-Fi and NFC. That includes remote control through the official Canon Camera Connect app (iOS and Android), image transfer (to a smartphone, a computer, or between cameras), and direct sending to a wireless printer equipped with PictBridge technology.
The mode dial on the Canon EOS 750D presents a total of twelve parameters: Full Auto, Flash Off, Creative Auto, Portraits, Landscapes, Close-ups, Moving Objects, Special Scenes (includes Kids, Food, Candlelight, Night Portraits, Handheld Night Scene, and HDR Backlight Control), Manual (M), Program AE (P), Aperture-Priority AE (Av), and Shutter-Priority AE (Tv). The names of these last four modes are different, but their functions are equivalent to those we saw on the Nikon D3300. The DIGIC 6 processor handles low light well, and the built-in flash does what it can (which is usually sufficient), but we can't expect miracles. Sooner or later you'll have to cross swords with some flash, so we'll suggest three classic Gloxy models: the TR-985 with diffuser and stand that doesn't exceed 100 euros, the GX-F990C with external battery input and 20 gels included, and the GX-F1000C with wireless control and master-slave mode. If you're willing to invest a bit more, you can add a secondary lighting kit and seven modifiers so that light never betrays you.

We understand the inconvenience perfectly: the camera itself already demanded a good part of your funds and you want more versatility, but the bar for dedicated lenses has been set a bit high. When that day comes when the experimental phase is over and you have developed a much more defined identity as a photographer, your rendezvous with high-end lenses will be guaranteed. Fortunately, the folks at Irix have not changed their plans regarding price and availability for their Firefly and Blackstone lenses, so they come recommended once again. Now, if you prefer a lens that fulfills a good part of what is expected from a wide angle and at the same time allows you to save some euros, our suggestion is the Samyang 14mm, with 115.7 degrees of vision.
Tripod for Canon EOS 750D
It says in the Nikon manual, and it says in the Canon manual: the best results in low-light photography are obtained using a tripod. The beginner photographer might try to improvise on a solid and level surface for their first shots, but it's not worth suffering headaches when a tripod for Canon EOS 750D like the Gloxy GX-T6662A Plus is worth 70 euros. For 40 euros extra we can add the articulated head Gloxy Z, achieving angles with our camera that would otherwise be almost impossible.

There are two details to highlight about the Canon EOS 750D. The first is that when taking photos with its flash off, the battery lasts about 550 shots. The second is that its entry-level design doesn't make it particularly resistant to harsh weather. Both weaknesses are solved by acquiring original LP-E17 batteries, which can regain their charge in just two hours, and a Gloxy PRO AW backpack that includes a waterproof cover and comes in three different sizes. Another form of protection comes through filters, and for that there's nothing better than the Gloxy kit with ultraviolet, polarizing, and neutral density filters.
And what about panoramas and time-lapses? The Canon EOS 750D is capable of taking that kind of photo, but there is a great ally among low-cost accessories: the Sevenoak SK-EBH01 head. Very easy to use, it supports up to 1.5 kilograms, the rotation time is programmable from 5 to 60 minutes, and its built-in battery lasts 8 hours. For less than 90 euros, you can't go wrong with this head.
