CCleaner is one of the most important resources for computer maintenance. Residual files from uninstalled programs, unused temporary folders, and orphaned registry entries are some of the things CCleaner can eliminate. The classic version requires a local installation on each system, but now its developer offers CCleaner Cloud, which in its free variant allows you to manage up to three computers.
Taking advantage of the 24+ hours that my internet provider left me stranded in the Middle Ages (again), I decided to do some maintenance on my main terminal. Besides defragmenting the hard drives for a couple of hours, I also ran a pass with the classic CCleaner. The latest version of the program works wonderfully, although there are many users who didn't take the interface change well. To be honest, the feeling is that CCleaner has become a "heavier" program, a detail that is never pleasant to find in maintenance tools. Now, if you want the benefits of CCleaner but prefer to do without its offline version, there's something new for you.
Its official name is CCleaner Cloud, and it's a version that goes far beyond the original CCleaner. In reality, this cloud service combines the resources of several tools developed by Piriform, including its information software Speccy and the defragmenter Defraggler. Both the summary and the hardware provide detailed information about the computer to be analyzed, and the rest of the modules basically explain themselves. A click on CCleaner will invoke the cleaning elements for the Registry and the rest of the system, while Defraggler does its thing with local disks.
CCleaner Cloud supports remote management of up to three computers (premium accounts raise this number), and each terminal must have the appropriate client installed. The option to install software from the cloud is particularly interesting, and it has compatibility with high-profile applications like Firefox and 7-Zip. Access to the free version of CCleaner Cloud is by invitation, and you might have to wait a couple of hours to receive the email. Something tells me that this new service represents the future of CCleaner. Offline versions have proven to be very difficult to monetize, and perhaps with a jump to the cloud things will change.
