A November 4, 2026, Bloomberg report said Chinese AI and cloud buyers expected tens of thousands of NVIDIA RTX PRO 5500 chips over the following four months, about 1% of roughly 6 million they had ordered collectively. Bloomberg cited people familiar with the matter for the estimates.
The reported buyers include Alibaba Group, Tencent Holdings, ByteDance and other Chinese AI and cloud companies. NeoTeo previously covered a separate report about Beijing weighing whether to allow ByteDance to buy the card in its earlier coverage of the proposed purchase.
What 1% means in units
One percent of approximately 6 million is about 60,000 chips: 6,000,000 × 0.01 ≈ 60,000. That is an arithmetic estimate from approximate inputs; the reported expectation itself was “tens of thousands.”
The report also said NVIDIA was working to expand production as demand for its AI-related products exceeded available capacity. It gave no product-specific explanation for the RTX PRO 5500 delivery estimate.
