Anthropic’s Claude Duet research preview is open by waitlist to US users on Claude Pro or Max. Team and Enterprise users aren’t included, and invitations arrive in waves without a promised date. Duet adds no separate charge during the preview, but its work uses the plans’ existing limits.

Anthropic’s announcement video shows Claude Duet’s mobile interface and examples of proactive messages.

Anthropic announced Claude Duet as a research preview on October 21, 2026. The separate agent experience is designed to continue tasks in a cloud computer and bring work needing attention to the user.

Who can join the waitlist

The preview is limited to users in the US with a Claude Pro or Max plan. Anthropic says Team and Enterprise users aren’t eligible for this preview.

How to apply

  1. Open Anthropic’s Claude Duet waitlist instructions and choose the option to join the waitlist.
  2. Enter your name and email, select your Claude plan and phone type, and submit. The form may also ask about your occupation and the first task you would hand off to Duet.
  3. Use the email linked to your Claude account if you already use Claude. The email on the waitlist must correspond to the Apple or Google account you use on your phone.
  4. Wait for an invitation by email. Anthropic sends invitations in waves and doesn’t promise a specific date.
  5. If invited, open the invitation on your phone, complete the iOS or Android setup, and sign in to the matching Claude account.

A mismatched email can disrupt the account match, so check it before submitting. Joining the list is an application, not a scheduled access date.

What Duet does during the preview

Anthropic says Duet carries over the memory, skills, and connected apps in a user’s Claude account. It can continue work on its own cloud computer after the user closes the app, and use a cloud browser for sites without a connector. During the preview, users can’t watch or take over that browser.

Anthropic says Duet checks connected accounts at intervals, described in its announcement as every few hours. An urgent item could arrive between checks, and the company cautions that Duet may misread a thread or misjudge urgency. It asks for approval before sending a message, making a payment, signing a document, or deleting something.

How Duet uses Claude limits

There’s no additional Duet charge during the preview for Pro and Max users, but background work and larger tasks count against the plans’ existing five-hour-session and weekly limits. “Included” doesn’t mean that background activity is free of quota use.

Anthropic says admitted preview users receive one full reset of both limits. The reset is available through November 30, 2026.

Check before submitting

  • You’re in the US and have Claude Pro or Max.
  • The waitlist email matches your Claude account and the Apple or Google account used on your phone.
  • You’re prepared for Duet’s background work to draw on your existing session and weekly limits.

After an invitation, complete setup on your phone and sign in with the matching Claude account.
