Copyfish is an OCR extension for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox that lets you extract text from images, videos, or PDF files. It does the same job as a desktop application but in a lightweight and agile environment. The tool supports more than 20 languages for recognition and can translate the extracted text into over 60 languages.
How to use Copyfish
Once the extension is installed in your browser, you'll see that its use is very simple. Simply activate the plugin, select the text area, and the tool will do the work automatically.
The first step is to click on the fish icon and then select the area to analyze in your browser. At that moment, the tool will begin extracting the text.
The second step is to select the options to copy the text to the clipboard, re-trigger the OCR action, capture a new area, or close the window. An important point for the perfect functioning of the extension is to click from the popup window on the settings icon (top right). You will also find the settings by clicking on the Copyfish icon with the auxiliary mouse button.
Settings and translation options
In the settings you can select the OCR language and choose a translation language (Spanish is available). In our tests, the tool worked very well; in some cases it made mistakes detecting the letter 'd', but it worked perfectly with accents and the letter 'ñ'.
