A comparison attributed to Counterpoint Research put iPhone 18 Pro series sales 3.1% above the iPhone 17 Pro series globally during the first three weeks after launch. The regional picture was uneven: the United States was down 4% year over year, while China was up 29% and Japan was down 27%.

The global result and its regional split

The figures compare the first three weeks after each generation’s launch with the corresponding period a year earlier. A global increase did not mean sales rose in every reported market.

NeoTeo previously covered a separate estimate of first-week iPhone 18 Pro sales in China. This comparison covers the first three weeks for both Pro generations and includes the global result.

Why China’s early increase may not last

Counterpoint attributed part of China’s reported increase to better early availability of the iPhone 18 Pro models than in the prior year, along with higher prices for competing Chinese Android flagships. The reported figures do not assign a separate share of the increase to either factor.

Sujeong Lim, an associate director at Counterpoint Research, said subsequent weeks would help show whether China’s outperformance reflected lasting demand or purchases brought forward. The initial comparison covers a short launch period, so it does not settle that question.

The Pro Max share of sales

The iPhone 18 Pro Max reportedly accounted for 56% of iPhone 18 Pro series sales in the comparison period, versus 57% for the prior-year Pro Max. Sales mix is the share of a series’ sales represented by each model; the difference here is one percentage point.
