On Nov. 2, 2026, a refrigeration-equipment provider serving France’s public blood service, the Établissement français du sang (EFS), experienced a cybersecurity incident, according to EFS. The Associated Press identified the supplier as Coolworld and reported that refrigeration systems at three plasma-storage sites were affected (AP’s report).
NeoTeo previously covered a separate October attack on supermarket refrigeration controls in France in an earlier report.
What the reported attack affected
The sites stored plasma for transfusions and for manufacturing medicines, AP reported. EFS said its monitoring systems quickly detected changes to temperature and defrost thresholds; AP reported that products were transferred or secured.
EFS reported no product loss or service interruption
EFS said no blood products or samples were compromised or lost, no health consequences were identified, and collection and distribution continued without interruption, AP reported.
Coolworld’s account and the French investigation
In a Nov. 4 statement, Coolworld said the vulnerability reported in media involved a component from a third-party supplier outside its direct control. The company also said a limited number of its units were affected and that it had taken appropriate measures (Coolworld’s statement).
AP reported that France’s national cybersecurity agency and Health Ministry were investigating.
