For certain activities, we need to know the exact time of both sunrise and sunset in a given city or specific point on the planet. To carry out this task, we will use the DaylightChart platform, which shows us sunrise and sunset times through graphs that are very easy to interpret.
One of the highlights of the environment is its large database, from which you can choose almost any city in the world. But if you don't find it, you can add it by entering the time zone, latitude, and longitude.
How to Know Exactly When the Sun Rises?
Once you download the program, you will see that the illustrative chart takes up most of the interface. It is very easy to interpret: the “X” axis represents the 12 months of the year, and the “Y” axis represents time (in hours). Another highlight is the representation of both daylight hours and nighttime hours.
Here it is very easy to determine the number of hours per day we don't need artificial light (public lighting, etc.) in each month of the year. All thanks to the lines that come out of each axis and form a grid.
Thanks to the grid we can be more precise and determine in which period of the year we have the most daylight or vice versa. On the left side, all the cities of the world (those that are part of its database) are listed, so we can know the sunrise in Aberdeen or Bombay, for example, among many other cities.
If you can't find a city in the platform's database, you can add it manually by clicking the “+” icon. At this point a pop-up window will open, where you will have to enter the city name, select the country, latitude, longitude, and time zone. When you finish, click “OK” and the location will appear in the list.
By default, the platform's chart appears horizontally, but from the “Options” menu you can change the view to vertical or conventional. You can also set a default time zone.
When we start opening different cities, we will see at the top of the chart the tabs corresponding to each of the world's points we have opened. This way we can navigate with a simple click from Buenos Aires to Hyderabad and observe the amount of daylight and nighttime hours of each city. If you need to export or print the graphs, you can do it easily from the upper icons of the platform.
Really DaylightChart is a very good tool to know the daylight and nighttime data of different cities around the world (or places) without needing to connect the computer to the Internet or GPS. DaylightChart is a free program available for Windows operating systems.
