The Story
Based on the first game in Capcom's Dead Rising franchise, the story of Dead Rising: Watchtower is set in the midst of a large-scale zombie outbreak when a government vaccine fails to stop the infection. Three survivors must evade the infection while tracking down the cause of the epidemic. Meanwhile, media coverage adds to the chaos as all signs point to a government conspiracy. Politics, public paranoia, and media coverage play an important role in the narrative of this story.
The plot of Dead Rising: Watchtower is set after the events of Dead Rising with Frank West, the photographer who survived the zombie attack at the mall, in the middle of an interview when a new outbreak occurs. We don't yet know if we'll see him fight zombies again, as most of the action will be carried by the three survivors trapped in the quarantine zone. What can be seen is that many of the game's features will be included, such as the appearance of several crazed psychopaths and the crafting of homemade weapons to face the zombie plague.

The starring cast includes Jesse Metcalfe (Desperate Housewives), Meghan Ory (Once Upon a Time), Virginia Madsen (Candyman), Dennis Haysbert (24) and Rob Riggle (21 Jump Street) as Frank West, among others. Produced by Legendary Pictures, the film has a script by Tim Carter (Mortal Kombat: Legacy) and will be directed by Zach Lipovsky (Leprechaun: Origins). Dead Rising: Watchtower will premiere for free on the Crackle site on March 27, 2015.
