Clickbait is everywhere, and YouTube is no exception. Some YouTubers almost desperately try to capture your attention with fake thumbnails, arrows, and titles that are far from reality. The DeArrow extension compatible with Chrome and Firefox takes care of removing all that by generating alternative thumbnails based on the content.
A quick visit to TikTok, Instagram, or Twitch is enough to see that user attention is everything, and many "creators" go to ridiculous lengths to get it. YouTube obviously has to compete with this, and in the process, channels adopt the worst habits, starting with clickbait.
Fighting clickbait on YouTube is nothing new. We've previously explored the features of Clickbait Remover for YouTube, but today we come across the new DeArrow extension, which goes a step further. In addition to removing fake thumbnails it lets you suggest alternative edits and titles, improving the description of the content "and" reducing sensationalism to a minimum.
Remove Clickbait from YouTube with the DeArrow Extension
DeArrow is compatible with Firefox and Chrome (including the different Chromium flavors), and its operation is immediate, without needing to reload anything. The extension's configuration menu has options to replace titles, thumbnails, or both at once. We can also modify its behavior when there is no recommended thumbnail, choosing between randomly finding one in the content, showing nothing, or using the original.
If you want some channels to remain unmodified (for example, to avoid spoilers), DeArrow enables a whitelist, but it only supports using each channel's ID. To get it, we must go to About, click Share, and select the Copy channel ID option.
However, the most interesting thing about DeArrow is that it lets you recommend alternative titles and thumbnails. With this extension, videos include a pencil icon in the bottom right corner, which helps you enter a different title and choose another thumbnail extracted from the current playback position.
