As of October 7, 2026, DeepSeek was reportedly seeking at least 80 billion yuan in a new funding round, up from an initial target of about 50 billion yuan. The total could approach 100 billion yuan. OpenAI is pursuing a separate reported round of $30 billion.
DeepSeek’s reported target rises
DeepSeek’s reported fundraising target increased after investor interest exceeded expectations. The new target is at least 80 billion yuan, with a possible total near 100 billion yuan; the round remains under negotiation, and its terms could change.
Tencent and CATL were reported as prospective major investors. Their participation was described as a possibility, not a completed investment.
OpenAI is pursuing a separate round
OpenAI was reportedly seeking $30 billion at a valuation of $1.4 trillion. UAE investment funds, including Abu Dhabi-based MGX, were in discussions about participating, while BlackRock was reportedly in talks. Existing OpenAI investors Thrive Capital and Andreessen Horowitz were considering participation. UAE funds had considered investing up to $10 billion collectively, potentially through a consortium.
The reported OpenAI round was described as a bridge toward a planned 2027 IPO. DeepSeek was also reported to be considering a possible IPO on Shanghai’s STAR Market in early 2027.
