Slides, from Designmodo, is a web service that lets you create, in a few simple steps, a responsive website based on sliding slides and to use on your own domain.
It is true: creating and designing a responsive and static website, those that serve as a business card and are so used nowadays, is not a task that presents too much challenge. Now, making that site look beautiful and professional, without knowing absolutely anything about the subject, is a task that can require many hours of study.
More so if you want to host it on your own domain and avoid all those online services that let you do it but at a cost we are often not willing to pay: whether it is the insertion of your own ads and ridiculous bandwidth limits, among other limitations in their free plans, or a monthly cost that can be out of budget.
So, if what you want is a simple but beautiful website, fully adaptable, on your own domain, hosted on a cheap hosting service that lets you save a good amount per month, what you need is a service like Slides, from Designmodo. Because Slides lets you, with just a few mouse clicks and in a matter of minutes, create a complete static site based on interconnected sliding cards.
How to create a website with Designmodo Slides
The process is simple and you can try it yourself using the demo. Basically, you first click on all the things you want to include in your site. First will be the templates (which you can preview by clicking on the dots and then on Preview Slide). You can group as many slides as you want, which will be added one after another, in the order you choose.
- Animation: The animation with which one slide will give way to another.
- Top Panel: The top navigation bar (you can choose none).
- Bottom Panel: The bottom navigation bar (you can choose none).
- Navigation: The type of navigation within the site.
- Styles: The font of the site. You can choose from the predefined ones or create a custom one.
- Additional Settings: Additional options to customize the site even more.
In turn, each of these options have several customization forms, to finally adjust the design of your dream website to your liking.
Once you have selected all the elements, by clicking on the eye (top right), you will be able to preview it. If you are not satisfied, you can both remove and select different templates, as well as alter the order of the selected templates (by clicking on the numeric icon to the left of the eye). To download the website, once satisfied with the results, you just need to click on "Download". Slides will compress everything into a zip file, which you can modify to your liking, to finally create your dream website. Need more information about the process? Watch the video below.
By clicking here you can see a few sites built with the Designmodo Slides engine. All very nice and functional. The free plan, which works as a demo, has basic access and allows you to use only some of the many elements available (but none of the advanced options, which are in Additional Settings). Even so, if you need something simple, basic, and nice, it will serve you well.
If you go for the professional plan, and want to use Slides to its full potential to create unlimited websites for your client portfolio, minimizing the time and effort you spend on their development, the cost is 89 dollars every three months or 249 dollars per year. It's not little, but with a single sale you would already be amortizing the expense, with a plus of profit. I hope it helps you!
