Untitled Goose Game took the web by storm with its peculiar humor and the curious pleasure of driving a small town crazy by controlling a goose. But the young developer Sam Chiet decided to go one step further and unleash another goose with similar behavior... on our desktops. Desktop Goose will fill your screen with mud, steal your mouse pointer when you need it most, and shower you with gifts at the most inopportune moments...
A New Kind of Virtual Pet
Virtual pets? Yes, we've seen many of those. The Tamagotchi needs no introduction, and personally I remember the early entries of the Petz series. In all those games, the user is responsible for feeding and caring for their pet... but at the end of 2019, Untitled Goose Game appeared, and that pattern flew out the window. The virtual goose is under your control, and you have a single objective: Be absolutely insufferable.
With such simple rules, only one thing could happen: The game exploded. The web turned it into a meme. And a developer named Sam Chiet decided to continue that trend of chaos and frustration by creating another goose for all our desktops.
What Does Desktop Goose Do?
That's right: First, the wretch leaves the screen and returns with dirty paws, leaving mud stains at every step. Then it brings 'gifts' when you least expect it, writes messages in its own version of Notepad, and worse, it steals your pointer! The trailer also reveals that it can make some video games much more... interesting, but it was enough to see it dirty everything and escape with my cursor in its beak a couple of times.
Now, imagine if you unleash this little nightmare on someone else's computer. Before doing so, you might want to read the readme file of Desktop Goose. There it explains that the installation can be customized with additional images, animated GIFs, and even music.
When the shouts about "a goose-shaped virus that steals your mouse" begin, you'll need a method to banish the goose for good. Several fellow sites recommend interrupting the Desktop Goose process, but the correct method is to hold down Esc until it leaves.
