On October 14, 2026, Diario Vasco reported that BasQ had approved eight of 11 company proposals for access to the IBM Quantum System Two installed at Ikerbasque in Donostia. The selection names LKS Next, Multiverse Computing, Akshar Innovation, Global Data Quantum, Iberdrola, Amadeus, Moeve, and Gertek.
How the BasQ access process works
The BasQ application route begins with a project proposal sent to access@basquequantum.eus. The stated assessment considers technical feasibility, alignment with Basque strategic priorities, and expected scientific or industrial returns, according to the BasQ access protocol.
The Basque Government presented the access protocol in July 2026, and further applications were to be evaluated on an ongoing basis. Approved projects are formalized through a collaboration agreement with Ikerbasque. The agreement sets project terms, including duration, confidentiality, and contributions to the wider quantum ecosystem, as described in the protocol.
