Like many of us, Jirka Väätäinen grew up watching Disney films. Over time, he became a talented artist who one day came up with the idea of recreating Disney characters as real people. The result? Discover it in this wonderful gallery!
Disney's animated films are classics, no doubt. The animated characters behind each of these films are almost as real as any flesh-and-blood person. Starting from that premise, the artist Jirka Väätäinen took it upon himself to recreate Disney characters so they truly look like real people. Väätäinen began this project in 2011, when he used Photoshop to ask himself what Ursula from The Little Mermaid would look like in real life.
From there, he went on to recreate the rest of the characters, where you can see the villain from Disney's first film, the Evil Queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, classic characters like Aladdin and Hercules, right up to current hits like Moana and Frozen. If you pay attention, each portrait has unique features like wind-blown hair, beards, and freckles. These details give the animated characters a touch of realism. Without a doubt, it's excellent work by artist Jirka Väätäinen.
