Doom and Super Mario are two undisputed kings in their genres. One is the most violent incarnation of FPS, and the other is a colorful platform adventure. Two very different game systems, but if we mix them, we can get a fun surprise like this DOOM: The Golden Souls 2, which is nothing more than a mod of Doom II in the world of Super Mario World. The sound and art are fantastic, but it's the scale of the game that really impresses. This gigantic mod features several levels connected through an overworld map designed in the style of Super Mario World.
A Sequel That Polishes the Formula
While the first Doom: The Golden Souls came out a few years ago, it was fun in adopting Mario's aesthetic, but this sequel feels like a big improvement, especially in terms of platforms. DOOM: The Golden Souls 2 has more weapons, more cohesive level design, and checkpoints (the flag-shaped save points) for those who forget to save the game. The levels are full of classic Doom enemies, and now your character has a jump similar to the plumber's, which may feel strange initially in an FPS, but it opens up a whole new world of options when exploring the scenarios.
Your mission is to recover the seven golden souls stolen by the Cyberdemons to save the world. To do that, you need to take advantage of jumps, which will allow you to access alternate paths in a three-dimensional map. Another addition is the special giant coins that you can spend on upgrades for your weapons.
