Bethesda Softworks has finally revealed the release date for one of the most anticipated FPS games. In three months, DOOM will be launched, and to ease the wait, what better than a trailer for the single-player campaign?
Almost eight years have passed since DOOM (originally known as Doom 4 in 2008) was first announced. But it was only last year that we started receiving the teaser, trailer and even the alpha version of DOOM that showed us all the good things the game has in store.
The Single-Player Campaign Trailer
This time, Bethesda Softworks presents the trailer for the single-player campaign of DOOM, where the iconic Doom Marine wakes up to find that the Union Aerospace Corporation facility on Mars has been decimated and invaded by hordes of demons. The survival of humanity is in your hands.
While the trailer doesn't tell us much about the game's campaign, it seems more like a montage of all the action scenes with their violent and bloody executions. However, several interesting details can be noticed.
Gameplay Innovations
Unlike typical FPS games, in DOOM's campaign you can't take cover or stop to regenerate your health while fighting the demon hordes of hell. Here you must combine your arsenal of conventional and futuristic weapons, your upgrades, your mobility, and an advanced melee combat system to take down, stab, stomp, crush, and destroy demons violently and creatively.
Multiplayer, SnapMap, and Extras
In addition to the single-player campaign, the game has a multiplayer mode and SnapMap, a community tool that allows users on all platforms to create new game modes. Those who pre-order DOOM will be rewarded with a special pack for the multiplayer mode. And for hardcore fans of the series, the collector's edition includes a twelve-inch Revenant demon figure and a metal case.
DOOM is being developed by id Software and will be available on Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on May 13, 2016.
