A little extra help, a shortcut to save time, an escape route from a subject we detest. Despite critical voices, students will never stop sharing and downloading notes, study material, digital resources, and basically anything that helps them move forward. Several online exchange platforms exist, but one of the most popular these days is StuDocu, with 12.5 million users across 11,000 institutions worldwide.
If we talk about the genesis of online note sharing, all fingers point to the classic Rincón del Vago, which emerged as a critique of the inefficiencies of modern education systems. However, the most important thing is that it forced teachers and institutions to step into the 21st century... in many cases, kicking and screaming.
Today, resources for downloading and sharing notes have multiplied. Google does much of the heavy lifting, but if you're interested in a more specialized environment, you should create an account on StuDocu.
How to Download and Share Study Notes with StuDocu
What do we know exactly about StuDocu? It comes from Amsterdam, was founded in 2013 by four students (Jacques Huppes, Lucas van den Houten, Marnix Broer, and Sander Kuijk), has around 12.5 million users associated with more than 11,000 institutions, and its page records about four million documents, ready to view and download.
Once you create an account, you can use its internal search engine to find material by subject, entire books, and documents. Everything you open or explore will be recorded in your account history, and a section of "recent" will allow you to review previous material with a single click.
During the search process you can apply a series of filters based on university, course, category, and language (fortunately, there are many files in Spanish), something we definitely recommend (after all, there are four million files). The site will help you view documents without difficulty, but you will need to switch to a premium profile before you can download a copy (details below).
Premium Account? Share Notes!
StuDocu lets us create free accounts with limited access, but if you want to go premium, the only thing you have to do is share material. With ten valid documents, StuDocu will activate your premium profile for twenty weeks and remove all viewing and download restrictions. Alternatively, you can always go for a $4 monthly subscription or take advantage of the trial of 30 days.
Logically, not everyone is happy with the availability and widespread use of StuDocu. Many professors around the world have accused the platform of "making a profit from materials from universities and academies that were uploaded without authorization". Representatives of StuDocu enable reporting of any problematic work or notes, but it's likely that this point of tension will always exist.
