Goku and his friends don't take a break. This year we not only had the release of the recent film, but soon we'll have the new anime. And to complete the combo, nothing better than a new fighting game with Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butōden.

Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butōden is the next 2D fighting game starring the well-known characters of Akira Toriyama. The game features a story mode in which, whether as a hero or villain, you must go through the different sagas that make up the franchise's history. There will also be over a hundred fighters that can face each other in one-on-one matches or team battles. But the striking thing about this aspect is that of the hundred characters, only twenty-five of them will be selectable for fights. The rest of the characters will be support characters, providing aid to players.

To have a story mode fitting the game, the most important characters that make up the Z Saga (Raditz, Frieza, Cell, and Buu) and at least several movies and OVAs (Bardock, Broly, and Bills) have been chosen. As expected, the new transformations of Goku and Frieza seen in the recent film will also be included for the pleasure of fans. The gameplay of Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butōden greatly resembles the classic Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors, where you can switch characters mid-fight or call support characters to attack.

As can be seen in the videos, the game is visually striking, with fast and fluid fights where you can execute combos, ki attacks, and the powerful final attacks characteristic of each character. Considering that the latest games in the franchise haven't been very successful, let's hope this title is luckier and provides us with hours of fun. Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butōden is being developed by Namco Bandai and will be available exclusively on Nintendo 3DS starting June 11, 2015, in Japan.
