With EdgeDeflector, we are going to force Cortana to start in your computer's default web browser. The best part of the platform is that it doesn't require any configuration on your system.
If you are a Windows 10 user, you've likely noticed that the URLs you open from Cortana's search or any Windows help open by default with Microsoft Edge (even if you don't have it set as default). After you finish installing the platform on your computer, a popup window will appear asking you to select a program from a list. Simply select EdgeDeflector.
At this point, everything is configured on your computer to use your default web browser instead of Microsoft Edge, when you open any URL from the Cortana results window or from Microsoft help. However, Bing will still be the search engine.
Each time you change your default web browser—whether Chrome, Firefox, or Opera—Microsoft help or Cortana URLs will automatically open with the selected browser.
EdgeDeflector is a very good platform to avoid a new window opening on our computer for a web browser we don't use.
