How to Create a RAM Disk to Speed Up Programs?
First, install ERAM on your computer. By default, the files are located in C:\ERAM. In that folder, you'll need to extract the files and run "install.bat". At that moment, the platform will make the necessary system changes (including registry entries) to create a RAM disk. The size of the new disk is determined by the tool according to your computer's RAM.
If you're not happy with the size of the created disk, don't worry, because you can change the size of the unit and other settings such as the drive letter of the RAM disk, set the root directory entries and allocation units. Simply run "eram.cpl" and from the configuration window you can change those parameters.
For a 32-bit operating system, you can create a disk of up to 1 GB, and for a 64-bit operating system, up to 4 GB. Of course, you need to have that space available in your RAM, plus plenty of spare RAM to avoid a negative impact on the system.
