My apologies for the all-caps in the title. I know they don't sit well because they transmit the feeling that I'm upset, but really it's just a lot of enthusiasm, and the reason is that Fallout 4 is confirmed. Just as Bethesda had anticipated through the official site, the first trailer made its appearance on the Web, and its original version racked up almost six million views in a matter of hours…
What to Expect at E3
Big things are expected at the upcoming E3. Very big. In recent times, the video game market has been hit by a series of decisive failures, the closure of historic studios, the “early access” crisis, and campaigns against pre-orders and DLC. Of course, we've already seen some exceptions to the rule, like Bloodborne on PS4 and The Witcher 3, which several specialized outlets gave a perfect score. Even so, the sense of emptiness remains. Indie games can satisfy our appetite in many ways, but deep down we are always crouched, waiting for news from those fabulous franchises that haven't let us down. While it's likely that the internet will collapse in a digital cataclysm when the return of a certain theoretical physicist is announced, today we have something similar in our hands. Ladies and gentlemen, Fallout 4 is a fact.

Rather than continuing the story of the Mojave and the West Coast, Fallout 4 takes us again to the Atlantic side, but not among the ruins of D.C. as with Fallout 3, but 700 kilometers to the northeast, in the city of Boston. The confirmation of the location not only came through official channels, but in the trailer you can appreciate unique elements of the city like the statue of Paul Revere, the Boston State House, and the Bunker Hill monument. The trailer was created “in-game” with its engine, which in turn is supposedly based on Skyrim's technology. Some people have criticized the quality of the graphics; however, I think it's more important for Bethesda not to lie on this point. We're tired of trailers that look perfect and then find out the game has a tenth of the details. Fallout 4 gives us a more colorful world than Fallout 3 and New Vegas, but no less chaotic.
Secrets and Leaks
With the confirmation of Fallout 4, some definitely attractive data have emerged. Ron Perlman, historic narrator of the saga, said it was “one of the hardest secrets he had to keep”, but the most disturbing thing takes us back a year, when a certain “Sandra Reed” appeared on Reddit to leak details about the game. At the time, the community had a very negative response to the information, and if we take another look… we'll find that she got several things right, including Boston and the date of the trailer's debut. Where she was wrong by a lot was on the platforms that will receive Fallout 4: PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Both the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 have been officially ruled out. Release? No, not yet. It's likely that Bethesda saves that card for E3, although the original rumors pointed to October of this year. We'll know within ten days.
