Many movie and TV characters are so famous that it's impossible to mistake them, but once they break free from their original design, their potential multiplies. Wil Hughes, a 3D modeling expert from Australia, proves this with the art of Wil Hughes. Flesh, wrinkles, teeth, saliva, claws, zombies… name a pop culture character, and you'll likely find it in his gallery, transformed, twisted, horrible and fabulous.
From a certain point of view, Hughes's versions could be called more "realistic", similar to what Hossein Diba did with The Simpsons characters. However, we're convinced nobody would want to encounter one of these beings in real life. Hughes explains that he began his digital sculpting adventure using Sculptris, and today he applies a combination of ZBrush and Keyshot for his recent creations, with a good dose of Photoshop at the end. On average, the entire process takes about ten hours. If you want to see more, don't hesitate to visit his Instagram profile and his ArtStation page.
