Ferdi: Combine Multiple Messaging Services from a Single Platform

In this age of digital communications there are a great number of platforms for communicating. This is a nuisance because we have to open different programs and web pages so as not to lose contact with our contacts. Even if we keep our options to a minimum, we would surely not stop having several environments open to communicate with our family and friends. For this reason, we want to introduce you to a platform called Ferdi that has a method to combine multiple messaging services in a single place.

Ferdi is compatible with the following messaging services: Gmail, Hangout Slack, Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, Twitter and Rocket Chat, among others. But if you have a messaging service and you don't see it on the list, you can add it manually.

How to use Ferdi

Ferdi is a free platform available for Windows, macOS and Linux, and its development is based on Franz. This means Ferdi is fully compatible with Franz (a similar environment).

You can use Ferdi in guest mode without needing to create an account. But by creating an account you will have the possibility to recover your data and sessions when you restart the computer or reinstall the program. Its interface is very careful and organized: on the left you will find all the compatible messaging services (add and configure).

Adding messaging services

The first thing we recommend you do is create workspaces so that everything is more organized. Then you can start adding the messaging services to the created workspace. To create a workspace you have to go to the menu bar and follow the following path: Settings - Workspaces.

Now you will have to go again to the menu and follow the following path to add messaging services: Settings - Services. At this point you can select a service from the list of the environment, so you will be asked for your login details. If a messaging service does not appear in the list, you can add it using the option Custom Services. This method is limited to web-based services, because you will have to enter the URL.

Configuring the added messaging services

In the service configuration you can set a name, an image to distinguish the service, configure notifications to your liking, enable the unread message symbol, dark mode, and enable or disable it.

Ferdi is a very good platform to unite several messaging services in one place. The interesting thing about the environment is that it is compatible with the most popular digital messaging services.
