Flexell Space and Singapore-based Satoro have agreed to pursue two in-orbit demonstrations of Flexell solar cells, one planned for 2027 and the other for 2028 aboard SpaceX Falcon 9 rockets.
What each company will contribute
Satoro is to build the CubeSat satellites, while Flexell will provide the solar cells and test modules. The companies plan to coordinate the satellite-platform and payload requirements.
SpaceNews identifies Mark Lu as Satoro’s CEO. A structured description of DBR’s signing-event image identifies Chai Yunfeng as the company’s CTO.
What the demonstrations will assess
The planned evaluation will compare ground-test results with operating data collected in orbit. It is intended to assess the cells’ power output and how their performance changes over time.
Flexell is developing solar cells based on CIGS, short for copper indium gallium selenide, and perovskites. The reported plan does not assign either technology to a specific mission.
Separately, SpaceNews reported that Flexell conducted earlier demonstrations aboard South Korea’s KSLV-II in November 2025 and October 2026.
