Flyboard Air: The Flying Board in an Amazing Video
Flyboard Air

The Flyboard Air

Zapata Racing already surprised us a few years ago with the FlyBoard, the aquatic jetpack capable of jumps up to nine meters, and the excellent aquatic ZR Hoverboard. This time, Zapata's latest creation is a flying board called Flyboard Air, although the prototype is still in the testing phase. Using a jet propulsion turbine with a backpack for fuel, the Flyboard Air is (supposedly) capable of reaching a maximum altitude of 3,000 meters, a maximum speed of 150 km/h, and flying continuously for about 10 minutes. Below, pilot Franky Zapata shows us an amazing video aboard the Flyboard Air flying board.

The First Test Flight

After years of work, Franky surprises us aboard the flying board in its first functional test. As can be seen in the video, the pilot stays flying over a small lake (as a precaution) with total ease and stability. At the end of the video, you can see that the flight lasted almost four minutes, reaching speeds of up to 55 kilometers per hour. There are still no details on how Zapata controls the Flyboard Air during flight, but it is amazing to see him piloting without safety restraints, especially considering that speed and altitude.

Records and Future

While Catalin Alexandru Duru holds the world record for hoverboard flight and Lexus Hover keeps us on edge with its mysterious hoverboard, the Flyboard Air could improve the business of existing Zapata Racing products. Although the company has already clarified that the flying board will not be mass-produced and sold this year, anyone interested in the prototype can check out the rest of the Flyboard Pro series, as both products have similar functions and behaviors.
