Four Gemini 4 Argon agents defeated Minecraft’s Ender Dragon in a randomly generated, sandboxed survival world set to Easy. The research paper reports one completed run, with the agents controlling players through Mineflayer and coordinating through in-game chat and shared memory (research paper).

How the agents worked together

The researchers gave the team one goal: defeat the Ender Dragon. They assigned no roles and supplied no human-written game logic. Each agent controlled a player through Mineflayer, an open-source library for interacting with Minecraft, while chat and shared memory let the agents coordinate.

The researchers describe the result as, to their knowledge, the first end-to-end autonomous completion of Minecraft by AI agents.

A 27-hour run

The paper reports that the agents took 27 hours and 14 minutes to finish. Across the run, they wrote and executed 2,783 programs and died 605 times.

Those figures belong to a single successful run on Easy. The result is a demonstration of agents coordinating through a long Minecraft challenge under those conditions.
