Over the last few days we've published many articles about airplanes and aviation: Why don't planes fly over the Pacific Ocean?, Why don't planes fly higher?, Why are planes white?, and among others. If you found those interesting, this time we're going to introduce you to a web page called FlightConnections. The site is a flight route map to see direct and connecting flights from anywhere in the world. From the map, you can click on a location and get all possible flights from that place on the planet. You can also check air routes between two destinations in the world (direct and indirect routes) and get information about the airlines that operate that route, their flight schedules, and ticket costs.
Years ago we went to the travel agency and got this information from an advisor. Due to the paradigm shift in booking travel packages, nowadays it's very hard to find a travel agency. But there are things like FlightConnections, a very good online platform, free and with no registration needed to discover or learn about the world's flight routes.
How to use FlightConnections?
First you'll need to open the FlightConnections website and the interactive map will load (it comes with some highlighted destinations). With the mouse (in true Google Maps style), you can navigate the world map and choose the destination you want by clicking on the region.
Another option is to enter the destination abbreviations in the dialog boxes at the top (From and To). One very important thing is to activate the Show indirect… tab to enable flight routes with stopovers.
Once you've found the route, on the left side you'll see all the information about the routes between your destinations: flights, airlines, dates, prices, schedules, etc. When you click on “CHECK PRICE”, a pop-up window will open that takes you to platforms like Expedia, Trip Advisor, CheapFlights, agoda, opodo, and more.
The service FlightConnections offers is very good and interactive. It's an ideal place to start planning a trip, because it concentrates all the offers and is very easy to use. We've tested several routes and it has offered us different airline alternatives. We also see very good updates on airports around the world (both international and domestic) and the new routes granted.
