One of the most anticipated horror games of all time is finally on its way. Get ready to enjoy the slasher genre with Friday the 13th where you finally get the chance to embody Jason Voorhees or take control of one of the teenagers as they try to escape from the hockey-masked killer.
Let's be honest: the Friday the 13th franchise hasn't had good games. With only two titles (the first on Commodore in 1985 and the second on NES in 1989), the folks at Gun Media are set to change that bad streak and give us the game every fan of the movies deserves. After all, they say the third time's the charm, right? Friday the 13th will be a third-person survival horror where you can take on the role of a teenager or, for the first time in history, control the ruthless Jason Voorhees.
The Multiplayer Survival Experience
The gameplay of Friday the 13th consists of you and six other players doing everything possible to escape and survive from the summer camp Crystal Lake while the hockey-masked killer tracks you and begins to attack. The game is entirely multiplayer and survival depends on you, whether you decide to advance alone stealthily hiding from Jason or work as a team with the rest of the players to escape. It's also possible to attack Jason, but it's not recommended (and if not, watch the movies to know what awaits you).
Playing as Jason and the Kickstarter Campaign
Playing as Jason, you can stalk your prey and ambush it at the right moment, where you can perform a variety of executions. You can also unlock several of the incarnations Jason had throughout the movies, as well as two never-before-seen designs. For now, the project leaders started a campaign to raise funds through the Kickstarter website. Friday the 13th needs $700,000 to finance itself and, as usual, all those who support the project with a donation will be rewarded with copies of the title, soundtrack, and signed art, among other gifts. Friday the 13th is being developed by Gun Media and will be available on Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. For now, the game doesn't have a concrete release date.
