Life on a computer would be far more complicated without the clipboard. Copying text, images, and formatting becomes a breeze, but in its traditional form, the clipboard is serial. That means each new block of data replaces the previous one, and honestly, we don't always want that to happen. The application FRSPasty fixes this by creating a super clipboard that, besides working as usual, remembers everything that goes through it and lets us recover it.
Considering my daily work and other online activities, losing the clipboard would be like losing the entire computer. The interface of FRSPasty is one of the most basic we've seen lately. On the left side, we find the complete history with every element that went through the clipboard, and on the right, its content appears. An additional advantage of FRSPasty is that it offers the possibility of remembering permanently an entry, so it stays there across sessions. We can select all, copy, and delete, but nothing else. There are no configuration options or advanced parameters. The program is very lightweight, taking up barely seven megabytes on our hard drive, and its installer doesn't come with any strange extras.
That said… there's one aspect we can't ignore about FRSPasty. Any tool that amplifies and makes the clipboard semi-permanent carries a security risk. The volatility of the clipboard works in our favor when we copy sensitive data like usernames and/or passwords; however, FRSPasty cuts that short. For example: The password manager KeePass automatically clears the clipboard after 12 seconds. That prevents any credential leakage… but FRSPasty is immune to deletion, and keeps the record.
