Samsung’s U.S. firmware record lists Android 17 and One UI 9 for Galaxy A26 5G model SM-A266U, with build A266USQUADZJ5 and a release date of October 27, 2026. TechRepublic and SamMobile separately reported the One UI 9 rollout for factory-unlocked model SM-A266U1, with build A266U1UEUADZJ5. Samsung’s firmware record covers the carrier model.
Two U.S. Galaxy A26 variants, two builds
Samsung lists build A266USQUADZJ5 for the carrier model SM-A266U. Its release record gives the security patch level as October 5, 2026.
The SM-A266U1 build was reported separately by TechRepublic and SamMobile. A phone that is unlocked to use another carrier’s SIM can still have carrier firmware, so the model number is a better way to identify which variant you have. NeoTeo previously covered a separate One UI 9 rollout for the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7.
Check the full model number before comparing update builds: SM-A266U and SM-A266U1 have different firmware identifiers.
What Samsung lists in the A26 update
Samsung’s A26-specific notes describe several changes. In the Quick Panel, you can resize the brightness and volume sliders and the media player, and separate the sound-mode button from the volume slider. A blue indicator appears while an app accesses location. A new quick-lock action blocks biometric unlocking the next time the phone is unlocked.
The notes also list a Warranty and care menu with warranty information and diagnostic checks. Samsung Health gets redesigned views, customizable home-screen cards, quicker data logging, trend analysis and additional health-tracking features. Accessibility changes include text spotlight, physical-keyboard shortcuts, mouse-key enhancements, Select to speak and TalkBack updates. Samsung says the exact changes can vary by model, country and service provider.
Find your model number and check for the update
Open Settings > About phone to find the model number. To check for software, go to Settings > Software update or System updates, depending on the carrier, then choose Download and install or Check for updates. These menu paths are described in TechRepublic’s update guidance; the option to check does not guarantee that the update is available for a particular device.
