Preparing the game…

How to play Builder

To play Builder online, wait for preparation to finish, then press Play to start the 2011 MS-DOS edition in your browser. Study the surroundings before setting off: getting through means changing the environment, not simply crossing it.

Your goal is to escape as the world closes in. Across 15 levels, build footholds to reach difficult spots and destroy obstacles blocking the way. Look for routes that open up and plan your moves; the shifting surroundings turn the escape into a platform-puzzle challenge with mounting pressure.

A return with classic tools

A-J Games released Builder in 2011, with Azurelore Korrigan as developer, designer, and implementer. The game was made with Game-Maker, an engine from Recreational Software Designs that was already around twenty years old. It revisits Korrigan’s early work for A-J Games, using constructed footholds and destroyed obstacles as practical tools for getting out.
