The open profile of Stable Diffusion and the enormous number of models available online have made it easy to generate images, but running it offline requires additional hardware, and many users only have a mobile device to experiment with that technology. That’s where Android apps come in, especially GenZArt, which offers a very flexible free mode, shows no ads, and includes dozens of styles.
Most online image generators have already imposed restrictions or credit systems to push users toward premium profiles, but there are still some quite flexible free alternatives. We can explore HuggingFace spaces (as long as we accept their errors), or use services like Ideogram AI and Bing Image Creator, which provide free tokens quite frequently.
Now, what about the Android universe? The Play Store is full of generators, but they tend to drown the user in ads or grant very few daily credits. The GenZArt app promises to be the exception with an ad-free free mode and no caps on the number of generated images.
How to Generate Images on Android with GenZArt
There’s no mystery here: the interface has a Home section that shows some users’ creations, a Profile section where you can see account details and previous generations, and finally Create Art. There you’ll find a prompt box, three format options (1:1, 2:3, and 3:2), a function to load reference images (also known as Img2Img), and a menu with artistic styles.
The list includes 48 styles (one of them is “No Style”), with variants ranging from Realistic and Steampunk to Ghibli, Unreal Engine, Landscape, and Watercolor. As you might expect, some styles are very similar, but given the lack of limits, the best thing to do is try them all with the same prompt.
A trained eye won’t take long to spot the essence of Stable Diffusion (split lips, different eyes, mutant hands), but GenZArt’s story doesn’t end here. Once you generate an image, you can modify its content (whether by erasing or replacing), apply a certain level of upscaling, and of course, download copies to your device.
So, how does GenZArt plan to finance itself? Some users mention a premium profile to unlock photo editing and upscaling (I haven’t found it during my tests), but I did detect the possibility of stamping generated images on mugs and T-shirts. My recommendation? Take advantage of the free mode while it works this way. GenZArt is a relatively new app, and I imagine that increased pressure will lead to some changes.
