The female-led version of Ghostbusters is almost here. And with the trailer still a few weeks away, Sony Pictures Entertainment has released a brief teaser for the Ghostbusters reboot. Who you gonna call?
It's been more than thirty years since the original Ghostbusters took the world by surprise with its infectious mix of special effects and humor, as well as the hilarious performance of Bill Murray. Now, the franchise is getting a reboot with a female cast, aiming to combine all the paranormal and comedic elements that made the original so beloved with a new set of characters. With the trailer not arriving until March 3, Sony has given us a first look via this teaser:
Unfortunately, the brief preview of Ghostbusters barely shows a random scene: a police patrol and the U.S. National Guard arrive at an area that appears to be affected by a paranormal entity. That's it. We don't see any of the main characters or anything else that might catch your attention, though you can make out the new logo. The team—Abby Yates, Erin Gilbert, Jillian Holtzmann, and Patty Tolan—will be the ones putting on the jumpsuits to clean the streets of New York from any malicious entity.
The film stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones, with supporting performances from Chris Hemsworth, Andy García, Neil Casey, and Michael Kenneth Williams, among others. Produced by Village Roadshow Pictures, the movie is directed by Paul Feig (Spy) and written by Katie Dippold (The Heat) and Feig. Ghostbusters will hit theaters on July 15, 2016.
