Editorial report

Gionee M12 6 GB / 128 GB / International technical sheet

The Gionee M12 suits buyers looking for a straightforward phone who put battery capacity first; its main trade-off is performance that falls behind most phones of its time. This configuration pairs 4 GB of RAM with 64 GB of storage, while the model is also sold with 6 GB / 128 GB. Its 6.55″ IPS LCD has a 720 × 1600 px resolution and 268 ppi density, lower than that of most phones launched around the same time. Overall, design and display fare worse than those of most phones from its time.

The 5,100 mAh battery has more capacity than most phones of its time, but 10 W charging is slower than on most of them. Its AnTuTu v8 result of 93,750 is worse than that of most contemporaries, highlighting the hardware as a weak point. Camera performance is average: the rear main camera is 48 MP, alongside a 5 MP ultrawide camera. Connectivity also fares worse than on most phones of its time; features include 4G, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C and dual Nano-SIM. It runs Android 10 and supports expandable storage. With a NeoScore of 4.3, the M12 is a basic option for buyers who value a large-capacity battery more than stronger performance and faster charging.
